Pumpkin/Jack-o-lantern Scavenger Hunt
Many people will either be hosting or guests at Halloween parties over the course of the next month. Many will be looking for activities or games for people to play. Here is a game that can be played during the entire length of the Halloween party. The concept of the game is very simple. It’s a scavenger hunt. In this game the object is to find as many pumpkins as possible and get the highest point total by the end of the night.
You might think this could get a little cumbersome and might lead to unpleasant surprises/smells months later if you hide the pumpkins really well and nobody finds them. Well that’s why these pumpkins are actually created out of construction paper. Go ahead and get a pack of orange construction paper. Cut out a large number of pumpkins in various sizes. Decorate the pumpkins however you wish with crayons, and put a point value on the back of each pumpkin.
The smaller pumpkins in general should have higher point values, but the point values should be assigned also based on where you hide the pumpkins. If they are hidden in a very difficult place to find then their value should be higher. A small pumpkin in an easy place to find and a large pumpkin in a hard place to find should have similar point values for this Halloween party game.
There is not a lot of strategy in this Halloween game, it is more of a time killer for people to play during the party. The great thing is this game can continue throughout the length of the game. Have pumpkins hidden centered around other games you will be playing during the night so they might not be discovered until you are playing that game.
At the end of the party ask everyone to total up the points on the back of their pumpkins. The winner is determined by who has the most points, not by who discovered the most pumpkins. Give the winner a special prize for their accomplishment.
You can actually have a variety of winners though if you choose. You could have different categories such as “who found the most pumpkins”, “who found the pumpkin with the highest point value”, etc. You can even put a name on each pumpkin with the point value and give anyone who found the pumpkin with their own name on it a prize as well. The flexibility in this Halloween Party Game as a Pumpkin Scavenger Hunt is endless, have fun with it.
Note: The way I plan on laying out this game, is not only with paper pumpkins, but with real ones as well as plastic fake glowing ones. Of course the paper ones will be worth more points because they aren’t glowing.

So I printed my tags for the “Name Game” from my Template, I printed on glossy card stock and they turned out great! Then I hole punched them, so I can safety pin them to the back of peoples shirts.

I have made my own name tags for the “Name Game” that I’m going to print out myself, there’s around 24 cards I believe. If you wish to have them, please message me!

The Name Game

This is a warm-up, get to know you game for kids through adults.

All you need is:

  • 3x 5 cards
  • Marking Pen(medium or wide point)
  • Safety Pins

Before the party, print neatly the name of a person or character associated with Halloween onto a 3x5 card.

Use a different name on each card.

Make up enough cards for more than each person invited to the party, especially for kids. This can be such a fun game, that people want to play it more than once.

Upon arriving, use a safety pin to put one card on each guests’ back. Do not tell them who is on the card.

Game Objective: To guess who “you” are, the name on your back.

Rules:

  1. You can ask only one question of a guest, before moving to another guest to ask a question.

  2. Only “Yes” and “No” answers can be given.

  3. Laughing, facial expressions, etc are certainly allowed.

  4. Look for questions which will quickly narrow the quest such as:

    1. Am I a male(or female)?
    2. Am I a real person(versus fictional character)?
  5. If a guest guesses too quickly, give them another name tag.

Horror Movie Clues

This is a game where party guests are given handouts with images on them. Some of the images refer to a movie title specifically, while the other images refer to things associated with the movie. The challenge for the guests is to figure out which horror movie the clues are referring to.

Devil In The Details

Feeling like your guests haven’t fully appreciated the amount of detail you’ve put into your party atmosphere? Devise questions that deal with your decorations and watch them explore your haunt.

It’s simple, really. I created handouts with questions like “List the different types of vermin in the room” and “There are a total of 5 items in the lounge that are often used as weapons. List them”. I’ve created questions that had people checking the labels on prop bottles. Use your imagination.

Blair Witch Short Films
The concept has your guests video taping themselves in Blair Witch form while they confess their wrong doings or anxiety over an everyday issue. Ask guests to keep the short films to under one minute (30 seconds is probably best). You’ll watch all the films together at the party.
You can either:a) have guests create their films before hand and have them submit the films to you before the day of your party or when they arrive to your house for the party, orb) Have a video camera available at the party. Ask your guests to take the camera into different parts of the house/outside to film their piece. Tell them you’ll be screening at a particular time and even offer prizes for the best short clip.

Classic Bobbing for ApplesA large steel tub is filled with water and apples are added to the water. How many apples? We recommend at least 1.5 apples per person as it gets harder to get the apples as the game goes along. (Another option if you are timing them, is to always have the same number of apples in the water for each turn – ie 5 apples)Now that the apples are in the water, the guests are instructed that they must grab an apple and pull it out of the water using just their mouth. Some kids might be able to grab an apple’s stem but in many cases the children must bite into the apple to get it out of the water. End of Game and Bobbing for Apples WinnerThere are several options for ending the game and declaring a winner.1. All the guests take a turn and retrieve an apple. Activity – No Winner2. If the tub is large enough, all the children start at the same time and the first child to get an apple wins.3. Each child takes a turn and you time how fast they get their apple. Fast time wins.Notes:Bibs and towels are recommended for this wet game.Adult supervision for this game.Bobbing for Apples games not intended for young children.Bobbing For Apples RelayIn this version of Bobbing for Apples two steel tubs and sets of apples are needed as guests are divide into 2 or more teams. Note, you will need one tub for each team. The tubs are placed at one end of the room and a start line at the other. Note: Danger of slipping and falling on wet floors. We recommend you play this game outdoors and with caution. The teams line up and when the host says Go! The first player of each team races to the tub with apples and bobs until they get the apple without using their hands. Once they have the apple, they must race back to the start line tag the next person and they carefully head to the tub to get their apple and then return to the line to tag the next person. This process continues until all member of one team have retrieved their apples and everyone is behind the start line and is declared the Winner!

My picture For the love of Autumn.
Crisp days, morning dew. Hot apple cider, apple picking. Scarfs, boots and long sleeves. Warm colours, falling leaves. Mums, pumpkins and squash. Hay rides, pumpkin picking. Corn mazes, bonfires. Jack-o'-lanterns, ghosts and goblins. Halloween, trick or treating. Apple pie, warm blankets. Pumpkin pie, Thanksgiving. Fire places, first snow fall. Numb noses, rosy cheeks. ---------------------------------------------------------- I'm a 22 year old going on 23 that is still in love with Halloween, Heck you're never too old for Halloween, that's what I think.

I will continue having parties into my later adult years, until I can no longer marvel in the season that is Autumn, and the event that is Halloween.

I hope you enjoy my journey into the up coming autumn season, and my love for everything Halloween. My party this year is going to be big! I'm making some of these recipes and crafts come to life pretty soon. So stay tuned and keep an eye out for all my experiences in this upcoming fall season!

Yours Truly, Amanda.
